Counter Culture Coffee of Durham, NC is one of the largest craft coffee roasters in the nation, at the forefront of direct trade and sustainable agricultural practices. As our sole supplier of coffee, their all-organic beans are certified direct trade, thanks to the relationships they have built and cultivated with international farming families. Their coffees are superbly balanced, appearing all across the medium roast spectrum. We prepare these coffees as espresso with expertise in our custom La Marzocco espresso machine, and we brew our drip individually using the pour-over method in place of large commercial machines and urns that sacrifice freshness and quality.

Local Farmers and Artisans

Shaw Farm of Dracut, MA has been in operation since 1908, family-owned and operated from day one. Growing their own feeds in partnership with another local farm and consulting a nutritionist and veterinarians regularly, they are home to some of the happiest and healthiest dairy cows on earth. Fertilizing their soil by these very same cows, they ensure a 100% organic product that is delicious, creamy, and ethical.

First Root Farm of Concord, MA is a new local farm founded by young, driven farmers in 2010. After meeting and hitting it off at The Farm School in Athol, MA, Laura Sackton and Ariel Berman were granted one acre of farmland and access to a barn in the Minute Man National Historical Park by Battle Road Farm to start a CSA. In four short years it has grown in size and reach to nearly three acres and over a hundred members, farming a wide array of vegetables organically and sustainably.

EHChocolatier of Somerville, MA is the lifework of cofounders and chocolatiers, Elaine Hsieh and Catharine Sweeney. They first met in 1999 when a mutual friend threw them together to bake her wedding cake. They opened their kitchen, in a space shared with Taza, in 2010 and quickly grew to national fame for their classic technique, simplistic styling, natural ingredients, and bold flavors. They have recently been awarded "Best in Box" from the New York Times and have been featured as a "Best Chocolate in U.S." in Food & Wine.

Spindrift of Charlestown, MA is the work of a local dad who wanted to have a healthy alternative to major brands of soda for him and his kids to enjoy. In 2009 he set out to fill the hole in the industry for soda made with real, whole, and fresh ingredients. After lots of research and some trial and error, they perfected some now locally famous pops, including their Orange Mango, Sparkling Grapefruit, and Cranberry Raspberry that we proudly offer. Using only triple purified sparkling water, fresh squeezed fruit or berry puree, and a dash of cane juice, it is all natural and refreshing on a level soda has never reached before.

Fiore Di Nonno of Somerville, MA is the work of Lourdes Smith, whose family has been making cheese since before they immigrated to the United States from their native Italy. Their many cheeses are made fresh daily right here in Massachusetts, including their incredible burrata (a light and smooth mozzarella pouch, stuffed with stracciatella) that comes on our Tomato, Basil, & Burrata sandwich. They have earned a loyal following and many rewards, including a Top Spot at the 2011 American Cheese Society Awards.

Iggy's Bread of the World of Cambridge, MA is a booming local bakery with global scope and unmatched quality. Leavening all their breads naturally and using organic ingredients whenever possible, owners Igor and Ludwilla recently celebrated twenty years in business, thanks to their ever-expanding list of hearth-baked offerings. Allowed to rise naturally for between 9-16 hours and delivered fresh every day, their breads and croissants are a perfect fit for our sandwiches and pastry counter.
